Joy is Being Franciscan

12 Sep 2025

The youth, children, Catechism Animators, and Parish Council members of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Shalom Friary-Ramnagar came together to celebrate Word of God Sunday in a meaningful and splendid way.

The celebration began with a grand procession of the Bible, which was solemnly placed before the altar, garlanded, and incensed during the Mass. After the Eucharistic celebration, the faithful were treated to a vibrant and creative exhibition on the Word of God.

Children brought to life the central events of our salvation by enacting scenes of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. The youth beautifully converged the creation story with the 800th Anniversary of the Canticle of Creatures by St. Francis of Assisi. Other children illustrated key moments of salvation history, including the Exodus and the Crossing of the Red Sea, the Covenants, the Prophets, the Apostles, and the worldwide spread of the Gospel by missionaries. Each of these biblical events was thoughtfully explained by the Catechism children.

In the evening, the parish community gathered to watch The Least of These, a film based on the missionary life of Graham Staines and his family, inspiring a renewed desire to communicate the Gospel message.

God speaks to us through Jesus, the Word made flesh and continues to reveal His deep and personal love in the Scriptures. The Word of God is truly God's love letter to humanity! As we prepare for the Jubilee Year 2025 and celebrate this Jubilee of Communication in January, may we open our hearts to listen to God, who communicates His love through His Son in the Holy Spirit.
